THE SUN.
An ear of corn in a green dish with scalloped edges, set on terracotta. The shape of the dish makes a kind of sun, and its colour cuts sharply against the orange behind.
But what stays with you first is the light. A summer sun beating down, hollowing the shadows and gilding the kernels. Without it, nothing would hold: it is the one that made everything.
