About

Mariya Korostelyova, photographer and art director.

Born in Kazakhstan to Slavic roots, Mariya grew up in China before settling in France. From that nomadic life she kept a particular eye and a childhood obsession: the substance of light.

Photographer and art director, she stages every image: still lifes composed like paintings.

Wall hangings on linen, signed and numbered.

Printed on natural linen, suspended from a reclaimed wood baton. Each edition is limited, signed and numbered.

The Process

From image to artwork.

01

The print

Each image is printed on textile in a studio that specialises in premium printing. No stretched canvas, no glass: the material stays supple.

02

The linen

A natural linen, matte and textured. It drinks the light instead of bouncing it back.

03

The making

Sewn hems, a reclaimed wooden baton slid into the top hem. The work hangs, simply.

04

The colour

Each print is checked to stay true to the original image, then signed and numbered by Mariya.
