CLOSE.
A red ranunculus, its petals packed in tight layers, leaning toward the small bud beside it. The red still seems to be moving. Behind them, the blue of the sky just after sunset.
Two flowers so close they seem to be talking to each other. One open, the other still closed, and a little game between them that they keep to themselves.
I had named it something else. Its first name was Coquin, mischievous in French, because what passes between these two flowers is hardly innocent. The filters of social media and Google would not allow it, so it became Close. The title changed, the idea did not.
